To Whom It May Concern,
I hope that maybe you can help me. I live in Lower Milford, PA in Lehigh County and have been told that there maybe a Lenape Indian Burial sight located near my home. I have also learned that this land is trying to be developed by a builder. My question to you is, are you or your organization interested preserving this land? Or can you direct me to someone who is? I would hate to see this land be disturbed if it is truly a Indian burial sight.
From what I have learned, the farm located on this land prior to being sold, the owner would not allow anyone in this wooded location. The area is about 2.5+ acres. The person that lives in the farmhouse now told me that the farm was own by the same family for over 100 years. A local man would come after the farmer plowed the fields to look for lapis rocks, but was not allowed in the wooded area because of the burial sight. This person told me and showed me tomahawks, Indian arrow heads and other Indian artifacts that he has found walking in the fields after the current person ploys the field. He has told me that he has gone into the wooded area and has seen ground formation that could be actual burial sights but too doesn't want people in this area to disturb it.
This community's area is documented that the Lenape Indians once lived there.
The location: North Chestnut Hill Church Road and Church View Road. If you turned North on North Chestnut Hill Church Road off of Church View Road and traveled about 250 feet on your right side is the location.
Please let me know what or who I need to contact to authenticate this story.
Thank you.
